From Edmonton, Alberta, the sisters searched for factories that shared their vision to re-think the footwear industry. Partnering with family-owned factories, Poppy Barley started producing sustainably-made footwear and accessories. They re-certify their factories every two years to ensure they continue to meet their ethical standards.

All products are hand-crafted ethically between Mexico and Spain.

Responsible Materials
LWG Leather: All leathers used by Poppy Barley are a by-product of food production and a natural alternative to fossil fuel synthetics. They source their leather from tanneries that are personally vetted or certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), an international not-for-profit that audits tanneries for environmental and social performance. The average LWG-accredited tannery saves 12.1 billion litres of water and 775 megawatts of energy per year.

Nexta Lining: Vegetable-tanned, chrome-free, biodegradable leather that is antimicrobrial and fights odour.

Water-Based Glues: A safer and more planet-conscious alternative to adhesives traditionally used in manufacturing.
